The test suite may fail for older perls (5.12.5 and older); see http://matrix.cpantesters.org/?dist=IO-Digest+0.11 for an overview. A problem is already described in Digest.pm (see https://rt.cpan.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=85473 ) but unfortunately this issue is already a year old and not being worked on. Another workaround here is to apply the fix from https://cpan.metacpan.org/authors/id/S/SR/SREZIC/patches/IO-Digest-0.11-issue1.patch
