In the branch doc_cleaning there are two commits. One of them exchanges uses of "variation" with "variant", and adds the words "variable" and "variant" to uses of the word "package" in order to remove possible ambiguity in the documention. The other generally changes the wording, especially of the introductory passages to be more exact and simple.
