String-Simrank 0.79 is broken in recent perls, due to its interaction with
the newly-activated copy-on-write (COW) mechanism. The C code makes the
assumption that it can directly manipulate the PVX buffer of an SV, which
is no longer a valid assumption. The attached patch fixes it
