Thanks. I'm not sure whether this is due to some bug in Perl calling one lvalue sub from another lvalue sub, or if it's due to the changes in lvalue substr in Perl 5.16.0. Anyway, for now I'll just mark the distribution as requiring Perl 5.16 or above. Ultimately it would be nice to get it working on older Perls too.
