Subject: VOLUNTEER TESTERS -- please add your names here
If no one reports bugs, we don't know if that's because there are no bugs or there are no testers. If you've tried out IO::Socket::IP -- whether directly or via Acme::Override::INET -- please add a response to this ticket describing what you've done. Thank you.
I'm testing with Acme::Override::INET in my everyday perl (5.19.7, bleeding edge cpan modules). I've noticed no behaviour changes so far.
Testing IO::Socket::IP 0.25. -- Paul Evans
Subject: SHLOMIF Testing Using Acme-Override-INET-0.003
I am testing the perl modules in my installation ( perl-5.18.1-3.mga4 ) using Acme-Override-INET-0.003 and perl-IO-Socket-IP-0.250.0-1.mga4 : shlomif@telaviv1:~/Download/unpack/perl/cpan/Acme-Override-INET$ perldoc -l IO::Socket::INET /home/shlomif/apps/perl/modules/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.18.1/IO/Socket/INET.pm shlomif@telaviv1:~/Download/unpack/perl/cpan/Acme-Override-INET$ grep 'use base' /home/shlomif/apps/perl/modules/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.18.1/IO/Socket/INET.pm use base qw( IO::Socket::IP ); shlomif@telaviv1:~/Download/unpack/perl/cpan/Acme-Override-INET$ One thing I noticed is that after I installed Acme-Override-INET and it complained about a too lower version of IO::Socket::IP (0.24 instead of 0.25), and then when I tried to build the IO-Socket-IP-0.25 RPM, then all the IO::Socket::IP tests fail and I had to "unset PERL5LIB". Another problem I ran into was the fact that KDE initially did not remember the configuration of its virtual desktops (part of its activities thing). However, this had happened before, and was fixable after a reboot (as I usually fixed it), so it's probably not related. Regards, -- Shlomi Fish

I'm testing with perl v5.18.2 installed via perlbrew on Mac OS X 10.9, using Acme::Override::INET. Basically, I did this: perlbrew list-modules | xargs cpan -f -i So far, noticed multiple Mojolicious v4.67 tests stalling with the message: Mojo::Reactor::Poll: Write failed: Can't call method "on" on an undefined value at /Users/stas/.cpan/build/Mojolicious-4.67-ky8Qtm/blib/lib/Mojo/UserAgent.pm line 188.

OK, finished smoking all the modules I have installed. I'm testing with: Acme::Override::INET v0.002 IO::Socket::IP v0.25 The output from "make test" is attached. If I run "pm-uninstall Acme::Override::INET", everything passes. Remark concerning Mojolicious: tests hanged consistently so I had to "kill -9" them :(

Test failures (but no hangs) with Mojolicious 4.67, see here: https://gist.github.com/eserte/8431705#file-fail-mojolicious-4-67-amd64-freebsd-9-2-release-1389882273-27563-rpt
I am using the Acme module in all my brewed perls. So far the only issue I've noticed is the Mojolicious one: Mojo::Reactor::Poll: Write failed: Can't call method "on" on an undefined value at /home/rando/.cpan/build/Mojolicious-4.71-SwZAly/blib/lib/Mojo/UserAgent.pm line 125. and then it hangs forever.
I've installed the Acme module on my development box and haven't noticed any problems besides the already fixed Mojolicious test. I'll also install it on the main prod box of our in house network management software which will test quite a few modules like Net::Ping, SNMP::Info and the underlying SNMP, Net::CLI::Interact and the underlying Net::Telnet.
I think we're happy this is all working, as it went into core for 5.20. -- Paul Evans
