Subject: Timestamps in the future
When I let tar extract Statistics-R-0.32, I get complaints like: Statistics-R-0.32/ Statistics-R-0.32/MYMETA.json /bin/tar: Statistics-R-0.32/MYMETA.json: time stamp 2013-12-18 12:51:09 is 67004.446740262 s in the future Statistics-R-0.32/Changes /bin/tar: Statistics-R-0.32/Changes: time stamp 2013-12-18 12:36:23 is 66118.44647498 s in the future and so on. And later: Your installer Makefile.PL has a modification time in the future (1387363459 > 1387300464). This is known to create infinite loops in make. Please correct this, then run Makefile.PL again. Would it be possible to avoid this in the future? Which timezone are you in? Is your time service working correctly? Am I missing something? Thanks,
Hi Andreas, I am usually in the Australian Eastern Time Zone (UTC+10:00) timezone. It does not typically lead to any issues (not sure why... the timestamp would be ahead of the time in most countries). However, I have been travelling quite a bit lately and my clock was off the day I packaged Statistics::R version 0.32. This would likely be the reason for the error messages you saw. My clock is now on time (using NTP) and the packaged module already or will soon work fine since the timestamp is or will soon be in the past. Cheers, Florent
