Subject: Illegal Content-Type parameter at /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.14.2/Email/MIME.pm line 125

From: "Ronald F. Guilmette" <rfg [...] tristatelogic.com>
I'm getting this strange message when I am using the "walk_parts" method: Illegal Content-Type parameter at /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.14.2/Email/MIME.pm line 125 Why? This message is not terribly informative. I can't tell which line of the original MIME message is causing the problem, nor can I even tell what specific thing within some Content-Type: MIME header MIME.pm does not like. (I am forced to mention also that one dude known as rms often used to chide people who used the word "illegal" where they arguably should have used the word "invalid" or "unsupported" instead. He'd often say "Oh my! It's illegal! Are we going to be arrested for that?? :-) Regards, rfg P.S. Perhaps this is a bug that has been fixed already (?) I am in the process of updating to the current version of Email::MIME, so I'll try again when I have done that and see if the message is still there. P.P.S. I _did_ attempt to attach a copy of the specific piece of e-mail that I was trying to parse/walk when I got the above error message, however it was a spam message and it contained a spammed-for URL which CPAN's spam filters saw and then blocked my mail message. :-(
I'm afraid I can't help without being able to reproduce this. Please try again to attach a message that triggers the problem. Or tar it and email it to me at rjbs@cpan.org I am tentatively closing this ticket, but am happy to work on it if you can give me a reproducer. Thanks! -- rjbs

I have several dozen spam e-mails that will tickle this bug. I tried to attach one of them to my earlier reply, however the spam filter on CPAN rejected my reply in that case, so I have now put an example file that triggers the bug onto my FTP server: ftp://ftp.tristatelogic.com/pub/example.txt I have many more example mail files that also trigger the bug, and I will provide those also if requested. Please do re-open this bug.
Opened. I have also moved the ticket to the Email-MIME queue, where it clearly belongs. -- rjbs
Attached is the sample file. -- rjbs

I sent you some test data to reproduce this bug. Did you ever have a chance to look at the bug after that?

I did. I was unable to reproduce the bug, until I realized that it was probably fixed in the interim by a related patch. This seems confirmed. Try again with 1.017 ? -- rjbs
I believe this was fixed in a previous release, as stated, and am closing this unless some other failing example can be produced. Thanks! -- rjbs
