Subject: CRC can be slow
There is deploy issue with Digest::CRC package https://rt.cpan.org/Public/Bug/Display.html?id=82335 so it's very slow on some systems. reporting this just in case you want to workaround this.

Thanks, I'm open to extending the module to other digest mechanisms

Reading RT #82335 it seems that the slowness issue in Digest::CRC is fixed.
