The cpan(1) doc has a description of an output format, "This prints one line for each out-of-date module ...", in the documentation of the -D option, but it is not the format of the -D output. It is actually describing the -O output. The CPAN(3) doc, in the distroprefs "Language Specs" section, describing the "match" part of a prefs hash, says the key "modules" is used. The key is actually "module", as seen in other parts of the same doc. -zefram

Thanks, CPAN.pm is patched in the repo for the s/modules/module/ bug. Will change the queue to App::Cpan for cpan(1).
