Subject: New Samsung wide angle zoom

Hello Phil, I found some information on the new Samsung NX wide angle zoom in a web review: http://erphotoreview.com/wordpress/?p=3124 The new lens ID id 12. As to the name, in my earlier report (https://rt.cpan.org/Public/Bug/Display.html?id=79395) I suggested to rename the lenses according to the dpreview database, including the NX in the name as well. I included these changes in an exiv2 patch, which will probably get accepted. Here is my patch in exiv2 http://dev.exiv2.org/issues/843. I would therefore suggest adding a new lens entry with ID 12 named "Samsung NX 12-24mm F4-5.6 ED". What is your view on the NX lens lineup naming scheme? Regards, Jaroslav
Thanks Jaroslav, I will add this new lens. Now we just need to find the lenses to fill the gap (ID's 10 and 11). I have already updated all lenses to include "NX" in the name (ExifTool 9.03). - Phil

Hi Phil, thanks for the quick reply. That's what I call perfect support! As for the other two lenses, Samsung has promised more to come, but they are rather slow at actually bringing them to the market. One of the missing two might be the new 45mm f/1.8 pancake. Let's wait for it to become available... Regards, Jaroslav On Tuesday 18 of December 2012 08:13:21 you wrote: Show quoted text

Hi Jaroslov, I checked my list, and I think these 2 Samsung lenses should be available, but are missing from the Lens ID list: Samsung Zoom 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 (non-OIS version) Samsung 16-80mm F3.5-4.5 OIS - Phil

Hi Phil, According to http://photorumors.com/2012/06/04/some-fresh-samsung-nx-rumors/, the 16-80 was cancelled. I've never heard about a non-OIS version of the 18-55. Samsung announced two lenses at photokina this year. One was the 12-24 that is available now and the second a 45mm prime that I don't see in any shop yet. Hi Jaroslav, Thanks. I've taken the 16-80 off my list. The non-OIS 18-55 is mentioned here: http://www.imaging- resource.com/NEWS/1266696044.html but perhaps it was cancelled as well. - Phil
