Subject: Bug at updating/installing GTK2 v 1.245

Hi, I'm using active perl (free) v5.14.2 bult for MSWin32-x64-multi-thread. A few month's ago I installed GTK2 v1.241 via ppm withour any problems. Now I try to update it via ppm to v1.245 and only get an error message: ERROR: File conflict for 'C:/Perl64/site/bin/libgcc_sis__470.dll'.     The package Params-Util has already installed a file that package Gtk2     wants to install. I also tried to install this package on an other system (also win7 64bit) and getting also errors cause of the pango plugin The package Pango has already installed a file that package Gtk2     wants to install. If I try to install Pango first...same error different File and package... Would be glad about any help with that. greetings

I'm sorry, but these error messages don't tell me anything. It seems strange that the Gtk2 package would contain a file that apparently belongs to gcc. Maybe the people who created the ppm file can help.
This is a bug caused by whoever built the PPM files. One workaround that you can use is as follows: Backup C:\Perl64\site\etc\ppm-site-area.db Use a binary editor on C:\Perl64\site\etc\ppm-site-area.db to find both occurrences of libgcc_sis__470.dll Change the zero to a 1 (eg: libgcc_sis__471.dll) Save it. use PPM to install your package: NOTE! Install only 1 package at once. Pango/Cairo/Glib/Gtk2 all have the same problem so you will have to repeat the above procedure 3 times to install it all (each time you repeat, change the 1 to a new number - eg: libgcc_sis__472.dll, libgcc_sis__473.dll, etc) I've just done this. I confirm it works.

As Torsten said before, we (the Gtk2-Perl project) don't build PPM files. I suggest you contact whomever built the PPMs and file a bug with them.
