Thanks; fixed in v1.18. I'm not happy about this new policy in Pod::Simple on =encoding; this caused trouble in several of my modules. After all, Latin-1 is supposed to be the default (perlpod : "but if your encoding isn't US- ASCII or Latin-1, then put a =encoding encodingname command early in the document so that pod formatters will know how to decode the document. ")
