Per a recent announcement from Netflix http://developer.netflix.com/blog/read/Upcoming_Changes_to_the_Netflix_API_Program the base URL for the Netflix API is changing from api.netflix.com to api-public.netflix.com The prior will no longer be available as of September 14, 2012.
