Subject: perl version
In there a specific reason why perl 5.8.8 is required? I often work with perl older than 5.8.8 but newer than 5.8. The module seems to install fine if I reduce the perl requirement to 5.008005 in the Makefile.PL.

The only reason it requires 5.8.8 is that it was the oldest version that I myself needed support for. I was able to confirm that it works in 5.8.5 (as you said). I also tried 5.8.1, where it failed horribly. Is 5.8.5 the oldest Perl you need support for? - Philip

Yes, 5.8.5 is the oldest perl I'm currently working with.
