I can't reproduce this on Linux, all tests pass here. I have a FreeBSD 9 VM set up now, but I'm seeing the well-known hangs related to pthreads, so I don't know whether I'll be able to reproduce this effectively. Are you not having these pthreads problems? <https://rt.cpan.org/Public/Bug/Display.html?id=68877>

Compiling a perl with threading support got rid of the hangs. But I still can't reproduce the problem. I suspect you see this due to using Glib < 1.250. You need Glib >= 1.250 for perl > 5.14. I'll keep this bug open until Glib 1.260 is out.

Do you suggest that I should try one of the devel Glib versions on my bleadperl system? Or are these Glib versions too unstable? Currently I am running a smoker over all of CPAN to see if everything is still working with bleadperl. Another strange thing is that there are almost no reports for Gtk2 + perl5.15.9 (see <http://matrix.cpantesters.org/?dist=Gtk2;reports=1;perl=5.15.9>). Maybe other testers are seeing hangs or other problems. Regards, Slaven -- Slaven Rezic - slaven <at> rezic <dot> de Berlin Perl Mongers - http://berlin.pm.org

I don't know what would be best for your smoke run, but if you want Glib (and most of its dependents) to have a chance of passing tests, then you'll need Glib >= 1.250. Show quoted text

Or maybe this is also related to Glib < 1.250 failing its tests with perl 5.15.9, since Gtk2 depends on Glib?

02packages.details.txt.gz lists 1.242 as the latest version of Glib, so there seems to be an indexing problem. See <https://rt.cpan.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=76422>.

1.250 is an unstable version (though it's not visible in the version number), so this might be intended. The older versions of the 1.25x series releases will be deleted later today (Glib-1.250 and Glib- 1.251.TRIAL). I uploaded them to CPAN with incorrect names, which caused them to become indexed and given "latest release" status. There were changes made to Perl in versions > 5.14 that broke Glib, hence the 1.25x series of releases. If you are using any version of Perl > 5.14, if you want tests for Glib to pass, you must use the 1.25x series of releases. The most current version of 1.25x is 1.252_001 (http://search.cpan.org/CPAN/authors/id/X/XA/XAOC/Glib-1.252_001.tar.gz)
The CPAN indexing changes are now complete, I think. And the reported test failures are fixed by using a recent Glib dev release. So I'm closing this bug. Please reply if this is not correct and there are still problems.
