You should use Net::Online or LWP::Online to check whether you are
online and skip the relevant tests if not.
An even better solution would be to run the tests against a self-created
HTTP/HTTPS server.
The tests you are running against thawte, could be classified as
developer tests -- are they useful on a specific installation?
