Building HTML-TagCloud-Simple-0.03 on a system with an older perl, Makefile.PL says:
Checking if your kit is complete...
Looks good
but then self-test fails:
Perl v5.10.0 required--this is only v5.8.6, stopped at /Volumes/Mercedes2/sw/src/fink.build/html-tagcloud-simple-pm-0.03-1/HTML-TagCloud-Simple-0.03/blib/lib/HTML/TagCloud/Simple.pm line 5.
I have no problem with this module requiring the new perl. But if so, I shouldn't have to get up to the self-test stage to find that out (and *especially* shouldn't be told earlier that there were no dependency problems). Build.PL should assert/test the minimum perl-version.
