It seems that it started to fail again (now with 0.79): http://fast-matrix.cpantesters.org/?dist=WebService-FreeDB%200.79;reports=1#sl=7,1 On my smokers it's always timeout errors.

Unfortunately the freedb.org service retired, and there's no comparable alternative, other than CDDB (nonfree) or musicbrainz (see their client) There was once freedb2.org for a short time, but seems to be dead/spam also. -- Reini Urban
