Fixes for handling files larger than 8gb

I have made some extensive fixes for the handling of files >8gb (larger than 0777777777777 octal) and also added a feature to return the MD5SUM of files inside a tarball. What's your preferred way to get one or both of these into the next update? Shall I give you some DIFFs, or can I be added as a maintainer perhaps?
