Subject: Perl 5.10.1/Perl 5.14.2 on Mac OS X 10.6.8 and Ubuntu Linux
Date: Tue, 18 Oct 2011 15:08:51 -0400

DateTime will not install via CPAN under Perl 5.10.1 or Perl 5.14.2. Not sure what the problem is, this was test on clean installed systems using default perl installations and custom installations. Please test. Thanks, Juan

I'm not sure I believe you, but some output would be helpful. Just saying "it didn't work" doesn't really tell me anything. -dave /*============================================================ http://VegGuide.org http://blog.urth.org Your guide to all that's veg House Absolute(ly Pointless) ============================================================*/

In the future, please attach _text_, not images. It's a lot easier to deal with for the recipient. The error is right there, it's telling you that you need a newer version of Module::Build installed. I think if you update your CPAN.pm install it'll auto-ugprade Module::Build as needed in the future. For Perl 5.14.2, however, it should ship with newer versions of the toolchain modules. -dave /*============================================================ http://VegGuide.org http://blog.urth.org Your guide to all that's veg House Absolute(ly Pointless) ============================================================*/

Sorry about that I'm running Linux in a VM and can't copy paste out. I have upgraded cpan to the latest. I'll try upgrading Module::Build. Perhaps its the same issue on Mac OS X. I'll report back. I'm sure there's a way to copy text out. At worst, you could probably use tee or something. Show quoted text

Perl 5.10.1, that's likely. For 5.14.2, I have no idea. -dave /*============================================================ http://VegGuide.org http://blog.urth.org Your guide to all that's veg House Absolute(ly Pointless) ============================================================*/

I'm not sure I can help you with that. I think your Perl install may be somehow messed up, because this really should just work. -dave /*============================================================ http://VegGuide.org http://blog.urth.org Your guide to all that's veg House Absolute(ly Pointless) ============================================================*/

Well thanks either way. I'm going to do a clean perl install again, but if you could confirm that everything installs fine on perl 5.10.1 it be helpful. I've been tackling this all day. Yes, DateTime and all its dependencies should install on all versions of Perl from 5.8.x upwards. -dave /*============================================================ http://VegGuide.org http://blog.urth.org Your guide to all that's veg House Absolute(ly Pointless) ============================================================*/
