Hello, MP3 with ID3v2.3 TCON like "foo/90S/bar" is turned into a genre of "foo/AvantgardeS/bar", 90 being the ID3v1 code for "Avantgarde". For the record, "foo/90/bar" is correctly interpreted as "foo/Avantgarde/bar" in ID3v2.4 (where exiftool translates the null characters to "/"). But you are correct that according to the specification, ExifTool was interpreting "90S" incorrectly. Note that in practice, many ID3 writers do not conform to the specification, and ExifTool attempts to deal with these in a reasonable way.
