Unresolved dependency on XML::SAX::Base 1.05

XML::SAX v0.96 included XML::SAX::Base v1.04. XML::SAX::Base was removed from XML::SAX v0.99 but XML::SAX still has a dependency on XML::SAX::Base v1.05. Unfortunately, the most recent XML::SAX::Base on CPAN is v1.02 provided by Kip Hampton. If XML::SAX v0.99 will work with XML::SAX::Base v1.02, please can the dependency information in XML::SAX be updated. If XML::SAX genuinely requires XML::SAX::Base v1.05 then please can you work with Kip to update his release or include XML::SAX::Base in XML::SAX again. Many thanks.

Actually, the most recent version is 1.05 here: http://search.cpan.org/~grantm/XML-SAX-Base-1.05/ For reasons which are not yet clear, the PAUSE indexer has not indexed this file. I have been working with the admins to resolve the issue. Regards Grant

Hi Grant, Thanks for the quick response. I noticed this problem was raised in bug #35128 against XML-SAX-Base 3 years ago. Does XML-SAX require XML-SAX-Base v1.05 or will it work correctly with an older version such as KHampton's v1.02? Thanks, Roger

It should work with any older release although there may be a number of warnings generated. I've just uploaded version 1.06 of XML::SAX::Base and it looks like the PAUSE indexer liked this one so it should be appearing on a CPAN mirror near you soon. By the way - the 0.99 release of XML::SAX is functionally identical to the 0.96 version so you can always just install that with it's bundled XML::SAX::Base if problems persist. I'm trying to resolve this dependency issue and sort out the test suite before making changes to tackle the queue of bugs for XML::SAX. Cheers Grant

All sorted from my point on the Internet now. I've cleanly picked up XML::SAX::Base v1.06 and XML::SAX v0.99. I think you can close this and bug #35128. Thank you for your quick work to sort the problem out.

The issue occurred because the lib/XML/SAX/Base.pm file generated at install time was not visible to the CPAN indexer. The packaging has been changed to generate the file at release time instead (although the user can still regenerate on their on system before install). Resolved in release 1.06
