I've been trying to get help on one of your modules, Finance::QuoteHist and nobody seems to want to respond. not even the author....and then the Perl guys complain that they are unpopular. If your modules are not designed to work, then notify the users or if you have no intention to help, make sure you post that on your site, so users won't spend (rather waste) time trying to figure out how (if at all) it can be fixed..... There seem to be links all over the place to make donations....for an otherwise free software with no support........ if you don't care to help the users, why should someone bother to use your language....what's the point of a mailing list, or of the author giving his email address if there is no interest in responding...

Hi, Someone does read *this* 'email' which is a bug report ticketing address for a module (CPANPLUS) that appears to be completed unrelated to the module (Finance::QuoteHist) that you seem to experiencing problems with. I don't know what problems you are having with Finance::QuoteHist, it is not a module I was even aware of until I read the above, but maybe you could try joining the #perl IRC channel on the Freenode IRC network (http://freenode.net/, they have a webchat available at http://webchat.freenode.net/) and explaining your problem there? Sorry, but I am going to have to reject this ticket as being unrelated to the module I maintain. Cheers.

Hi, this is a recorded message. At the tone of <BEEP> you may read from http://www.cpan.org/misc/cpan-faq.html the answers to the most common questions asked from cpan@perl.org. If your questions are not answered there, please wait patiently for the human beings also reading this email address to catch up with their voluminous email. If you reply to this message, be sure to write to cpan@perl.org and not to bitbucket@perl.org (which noone reads). <BEEP> Your original mail follows for your amusement or abuse tracking if you did not send this message. ====================================================================== Received: (qmail 3976 invoked from network); 26 Jul 2011 08:29:49 -0000 Received: from x1.develooper.com (207.171.7.70) by x6.develooper.com with SMTP; 26 Jul 2011 08:29:49 -0000 Received: (qmail 8774 invoked by uid 225); 26 Jul 2011 08:29:49 -0000 Delivered-To: cpan-responder@perl.org Delivered-To: cpan@perl.org Received: (qmail 8769 invoked by alias); 26 Jul 2011 08:29:48 -0000 X-Spam-Status: No, hits=1.2 required=8.0 tests=MISSING_HEADERS,SPF_PASS X-Spam-Check-BY: la.mx.develooper.com Received: from cpan.rt.develooper.com (HELO cpan.rt.develooper.com) (207.171.7.181) by la.mx.develooper.com (qpsmtpd/0.28) with ESMTP; Tue, 26 Jul 2011 01:29:44 -0700 Received: by cpan.rt.develooper.com (Postfix, from userid 536) id 801BF7045; Tue, 26 Jul 2011 01:29:41 -0700 (PDT) Precedence: normal Subject: [rt.cpan.org #69792] does anyone read this email? The place to report a bug in the Finance::QuestHist module is: https://rt.cpan.org/Public/Dist/Display.html?Name=Finance-QuoteHist

Dear "cplusplus programmer", You are spamming your help requests to the wrong places. This is not going to get you the answers you want and pisses off people that have nothing to do with the problem you're having. If you are having problems with a specific library on CPAN, generally *only* the author is going to be able to help you. If you are having problems installing *any* library from CPAN, then it sounds like you need help configuring your CPAN client. Let me suggest you join the perl-beginner's mailing list and ask your questions there: http://learn.perl.org/faq/beginners.html Other good resources for searching for answers or asking beginner questions include Perlmonks http://perlmonks.org/ and StackOverflow http://stackoverflow.com/ Good luck, David
