On Snow Leopard, I had to put the following line in .bash_profile instead of .bashrc to have
perlbrew switch change the perl version persistently in my environment. I don't know why
this worked, but it did, so you might mention it in the documentation as a possible nit for OS
X.
source ~/perl5/perlbrew/etc/bashrc
