Subject: CPANPLUS upgrade/config error on Ubuntu 11.04
Hello, I got a new SSD disc and was excited to try it out today. Installed Ubuntu 11.04 and proceeded to setup my Perl :) The first thing I did was "cpanp s save" then fired it up in my $EDITOR. All I changed was the verbose option + the mirror list. ( I have a local rsynced mirror ) Then from there I did a "cpanp s selfupdate all", when it was done issued it again to make sure everything was A-OK. ( I noticed that in the past because of the switch from MD5 to SHA, an old version of CPANPLUS wouldn't install the SHA libs, so I had to update then update again so the newer version of cpanp would install SHA, hah :) When that was done I proceeded to install some of my favorite modules - and I was lazy, I used Dist::Zilla::PluginBundle::Apocalyptic which would pull in pretty much 50% of the CPAN :) Somewhere during the process it bombed out and the error looked suspicious. With some digging around I found out it was the cpanp-run-perl binary that was causing problems. Seems like the update didn't install it in the right place and/or fix the config. Attached is my debugging session, which I hope is enough information for you to track the root cause down. I will try to reproduce this on a freshly-installed VM later today ( still have a ton of other packages to install + configure, ha! ) and will report back if it's reproducible or not. At this point I could swear I did nothing else but best to make sure, eh? :) Thanks! -- ~Apocalypse
