Subject: perlbug sending mail doesn't work Message-Id: <5.12.1_7472_1302452440@home> Reply-To: blaizer@cpan.org To: bug-Perl-Dist-Strawberry@rt.cpan.org This is a bug report for Perl::Dist::Strawberry from blaizer@cpan.org, generated with the help of perlbug 1.39 running under perl 5.12.1. ----------------------------------------------------------------- [Please describe your issue here] Hope you don't mind that this was generated with perlbug. When using perlbug for the first time and trying to send the mail, I get the expected: It appears that there is no program which looks like "sendmail" on your system and that the Mail::Send library from CPAN isn't available. Because of this, there's no easy way to automatically send your message. A copy of your message has been saved in 'C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\gUbD81TIp1' for you to send to 'perlbug@perl.org' with your normal mail client. C:\strawberry\perl\bin/perlbug.bat has detected an error while trying to send your message: . Your message may not have been sent. You will now have a chance to save a copy to disk. After successfully installing Mail::Send (all tests pass), I go though the whole sending mail process again and get the unexpected: C:\strawberry\perl\bin/perlbug.bat has detected an error while trying to send your message: Died at C:/strawberry/perl/site/lib/Mail/Mailer.pm line 158, <> line 9. . Your message may not have been sent. You will now have a chance to save a copy to disk. The same happens with perlthanks. Other than making perlbug actually work, can I suggest warning that there's no way to send mail when perlbug starts up, so that you don't have to go through the process of entering the message twice. Could you please check whether it is still an issue with the latest strawberry perl 5.14.2.1 ?

Recently sent several reports with perlbug on 5.19.11. Does not send e-mail. -- Alexandr Ciornii, http://chorny.net

I confirm this bug. But even after couple of experiments I have no idea how to make it work. Perhaps it is worth to report this issue as a perl core bug as IMO it never worked on MS Windows. -- kmx
