Please could the modules that were removed be restored - as a new distribution if really necessary. We read the reasons behind the removal, but found them very unconvincing. I have one of several people packaging NetPacket for Debian but we are reluctant to upgrade to the latest version when it is such a reduction in functionality. Debian packages often have quite complex copyright and license statuses. Of course the licenses have to be open source and compatible but I see no such issues here.

I'm assuming that you are talking about the IPv6 module. If that's the case, there is precious little that I can do. The author of that specific module asked me to remove it from the distribution, and that is the end of it. All I can do is to encourage you to contact him and ask him to release the module under its own distribution, or to help and submit a patch for NetPacket itself. I have plans to create a new IPv6 module to replace the now missing one, but alas this will have to wait until I have some time to dedicate to it. Joy, `/anick
