Subject: Installer shouldn't change default TERM to dumb
strawberry-perl-5.12.2.0.msi standard install. The installer changed my Windows default TERM environment variable to "dumb". As a result, all my terminal activities fail (ssh to Linux servers, ...) Installed on Windows 7 Home Premium

The problem is, if it DOESN'T get set, I think something important breaks (the CPAN client? I'll have to check and see what happens if that value is unset there.) I'll have to check with Adam Kennedy and see why he was setting it.

The perl readline.pm module doesn't work unless you set TERM=dumb. That most immediately breaks CPAN.pm, but will break anything else using the readline modules in Perl. Adam K On 13 February 2011 01:23, Curtis Jewell via RT <bug-Perl-Dist-Strawberry@rt.cpan.org> wrote: Show quoted text

Knowing that fact, we're stuck with the way it is... (for obvious reasons, the CPAN client needs to work when people install Strawberry Perl) but we can better document that fact (in the readme file?) for later versions.

It would be better to fix readline.pm but unfortunately we're kind of stuck with an obstinate author. On 19 February 2011 21:08, Curtis Jewell via RT <bug-Perl-Dist-Strawberry@rt.cpan.org> wrote: Show quoted text
