Well, Plucene was deprecated a long time ago in favour of KinoSearch/Lucy/whatever it is these days, but either way ... Show quoted text

... this is a different module. (The underlying problem may well be with Plucene, rather than Plucene::Simple, but if it's the former it would be better to report the results from trying to install *it*, rather than something else) Tony
My apologies - I was going through all the Lucene-related modules and got a bit twisted-up. I would of course much rather use the more modern Perl modules, but sadly have a client who requires me to interface with Lucene indexes - Kino is not compatible, is it? But Solr is, so think my problem may be solved. (Famous last words.) Thanks for taking the time Lee

Ah, well Plucene isn't compatible there either. The index formats are similar, but different, as Lucene had a non-'unpack'-able format, and decoding it one byte at a time was far far far too slow. Tony
