Subject: Issue on Linux

I am attempting to convert my perl application from perl 5.8.8 to 5.10...on linux...and I'm having the following issue with Sys::Filesystem. I'm attaching a screenshot for the error that I am receiving when running my script on perl 5.10 (I do not get this error on 5.8.8). I've attempted to install Win32::DriveInfo.pm, as the attachment indicates...but, that apparently cannot be installed on Linux! Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated! I'll try to dig deeper into the issue and maybe come up with a way to patch this issue. Let me know what you think, please. Perl Version: v5.10.0 build for x86_64-linux-thread-multi OS: Linux 2.6.27.19-5-default #1 SMP 2009-02-28 04:40:21 +0100 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux FYI: We're running SuseLinux 11 Thanks, Show quoted text

You didn't install the prerequisite Win32::DriveInfo or invoke your script wrongly so it can't find Win32::DriveInfo. This is not a Sys::Filesystem issue.

The problem is that you can't install Win32::DriveInfo on a Linux system. Did something change in Sys::Filesystem for 5.10 that now requires this on Linux? Sent from my iPhone On Oct 27, 2010, at 3:03 AM, "Jens Rehsack via RT" <bug-Sys-Filesystem@rt.cpan.org> wrote: Show quoted text

No, and because noone else has this problem and a lot of Linux test reports are successful. I think this is a user error. Because I don't know what you're doing (or what you had have done) - please read http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html and http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html before reopening the ticket. Please ensure that's a Sys::Filesystem issue and not a "I need help with my Linux" issue.

Great toy, but probably less gaming and more hacking would help you out :P

Ok, I'll check out those links. I did notice that you implemented the "Pluggable" module...I didn't know if that had something to do with it. But, if others on linux are not reporting this issue, then there may be something else going on. I'll let you know what I come up with. Thanks again! Thanks, Show quoted text

In that case you would be the first and only user since ages and (without intention to devalue you) this module must be removed (no public interest) ...

Good starting point to check those things is always (in case of Sys::Filesystem): - http://search.cpan.org/dist/Sys-Filesystem/lib/Sys/Filesystem.pm#SUPPORT - http://www.cpantesters.org/distro/S/Sys-Filesystem.html (as mentioned in the Pod)

Great. I'm very interested what you find out.

Looks for me that the issue is resolved (no updates for months).
