The synopsis in Module::Mask::Deps shows PERL_HARNESS_SWITCHES=-MModule::Mask::Deps ... but I think the var may be HARNESS_PERL_SWITCHES instead.

Yes. Thanks for pointing that out. I've finally uploaded a new version of this. With any luck the dependency lookup should be more robust now.
