Subject: o conf init test_report still talking about emailing reports
On a fresh 5.12.2 Perl install I ran "o conf init test_report" after installing CPAN::Reporter 1.1801. I got this: =============================================== cpan[2]> o conf init test_report The goal of the CPAN Testers project (http://testers.cpan.org/) is to test as many CPAN packages as possible on as many platforms as possible. This provides valuable feedback to module authors and potential users to identify bugs or platform compatibility issues and improves the overall quality and value of CPAN. One way you can contribute is to send test results for each module that you install. If you install the CPAN::Reporter module, you have the option to automatically generate and email test reports to CPAN Testers whenever you run tests on a CPAN package. See the CPAN::Reporter documentation for additional details and configuration settings. If your firewall blocks outgoing email, you will need to configure CPAN::Reporter before sending reports. <test_report> Email test reports if CPAN::Reporter is installed (yes/no)? [no] Please remember to call 'o conf commit' to make the config permanent! cpan[3]> =========================================== I didn't want to email test reports, I want them to go to the metabase, so I said no. It apparently took that as "I don't want to send test reports". I know the work around, just wanted you to be aware the instructions are confusing.
Wording changed. The changes needed were in CPAN/FirstTime.pm in the CPAN.pm distribution. Thanks!
Thanks for pointing that out. It's really a CPAN.pm issue, so I'll patch it there and send Andreas a pull request.
According to the Changes files, this has been fixed in release 1.94_61 (2010-10-03) which is only a developer release. The latest stable release (1.9402) is dated 2009-06-27. Any plan for a new stable release with this fix, as e-mail transport for reports is now non working? -- Olivier Mengué - http://search.cpan.org/~dolmen/ http://github.com/dolmen/
Fixed in the current stable release of CPAN.
