Hello mr. Tk responsible,
use Tk; in Cygwin Perl can't fork and dies in a continuous attempt to dynamically link up the child. "Can't remap cygz.dll", in other words. ``open'' can't create the pipe-line hence has to rely on the parent to prepare the pipe...
Cygwin Perl, when not used in conjunction with Tk works and forks just fine.
