Subject: Various issues with 0.68
Hi Folks See attached. A summary: o Argument "0.40_1" isn't numeric in numeric ge (>=) at /usr/share/perl/5.10/inc/latest/private.pm line 32. Yes, I know it's not your fault. I think you should auto-exclude dev versions. o Patching file src/generic/grid.cpp using Plan A... print() on unopened filehandle NULL at ../inc/bin/patch line 716, <IN> line 16632. Repeated many times. o checking for GTK+ - version >= 2.0.0... no *** Could not run GTK+ test program, checking why... *** The test program failed to compile or link. See the file config.log for the *** exact error that occured. This usually means GTK+ is incorrectly installed. configure: error: The development files for GTK+ were not found. For GTK+ 2, please ensure that pkg-config is in the path and that gtk+-2.0.pc is installed. For GTK+ 1.2 please check that gtk-config is in the path, and that the version is 1.2.3 or above. Also check that the libraries returned by 'pkg-config gtk+-2.0 --libs' or 'gtk-config --libs' are in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH or equivalent. Cheers Ron

Sorry, can't say. I have not been able to install Padre. -- Ron Savage http://savage.net.au/ Ph: 0421 920 622
Hi Ron, Do you need any help with the installation? Maybe this link can help you, http://padre.perlide.org/trac/wiki/DownloadUbuntu Regards, Ahmad M. Zawawi azawawi

Thanx. That was very helpful. I installed (with aptitude) libwxbase2.8-dev libwxgtk2.8-dev, then (with cpanm) Alien::wxWidgets V 0.51, and then Wx V 0.98. Lastly, using cpanm I tried installing Padre V 0.72, but got: Padre needs at least version 2.8.8 of wxWidgets. You have wxWidgets 2.8.7 How do I upgrade wxWidgets? Should I install V 2.9.1 from source via http://www.wxwidgets.org/? TIA. -- Ron Savage http://savage.net.au/ Ph: 0421 920 622
Hi Ron, Please Search for "2.8.7" in the following old discussion: http://irclog.foorumbbs.com/pub/200901/padre_20090120.log.html I think you need to do it from source using Alien::wxWidgets. What version of Debian/Ubuntu are we talking about here? I am online at #padre @ irc.perl.org via web: http://padre.perlide.org/irc.html?channel=padre&locale=en-us Thanks, Ahmad M. Zawawi azawawi
Hi Ron, Any update on this one? Thanks, Ahmad M. Zawawi azawawi

My apologies - I'd forgotten this thread started off with those 3 dot points. They have no recurred, so I'd say close this ticket. I'll open another on a separate issue. -- Ron Savage http://savage.net.au/ Ph: 0421 920 622
