Subject: implement write support for MOV (QuickTime)
My digital cameras (Nikon Coolpix E995, Panasonic DMC-TZ6) store videos in MOV format (samples avaialble on request). Often I take the vide in portrait mode but the camera does not store the information in the file and the video is always in landscape. When I look at the MOV metadata with exiftool I see a "Rotate" field set to 0. I would like to be able to change that value. -- Olivier Mengué - http://o.mengue.free.fr/
Any workaround requiring other tools or Perl coding or experimental code would be helpful now. -- Olivier Mengué - http://o.mengue.free.fr/

Hi Olivier, Writing the orientation in a MOV image would be fairly involved because the transformation matrices would all have to be rewritten. There are probably some dedicated video editing packages out there that will do this, but it isn't likely that I will add this feature to ExifTool in the foreseeable future. - Phil On 10-Jul-10, at 4:39 AM, Olivier 'dolmen' Mengué via RT wrote: Show quoted text
