Subject: Additional info in README
From what I've seen in about a month or so, by far the most common question that appears in #win32 is: I've just installed Strawberry now how do I start it? A related question: Where do I type my script? I think what most beginners to perl do is install Strawberry and then go to Start> Programs> and look for something like "Strawberry Perl" and expect a gui to pop up. It would be nice if the README contained these two questions with short answers and a link to perlintro for details. I installed from the .zip so dunno if you have the README.txt in the msi version as well, if you do then hope it creates a shortcut to the README as well during installation.

In my opinion, people don't read the README... I could be wrong though. Adam K On 22 June 2010 18:08, Xaero via RT <bug-Perl-Dist-Strawberry@rt.cpan.org> wrote: Show quoted text

I don't think you're too far wrong - there are SOME people that do. I've been told that in other bugs. :) On the other hand, telling them there can't hurt, and I've added a prompt to read it at the end of the .msi.
r12576 adds a remark about not having a text editor. Now to get making a link in the start menu to the README file working correctly.
