Hello, Frank. The errors you present are quite strange, especially because different CPAN testers tested this distribution under Linux without problems. But we need to find out what is going on :) Can you please attach to this ticket your environment variables? Thank you for your bug report, Alberto

Thank you. Unfortunately I do not see many reasons for what is going on. Tried to set LANG env variables just like yours, but I continue to get success on all the tests. Also, tried to compile in an AMD64 machine (but not with debian) and it worked just fine :-| So, this will be tricky :) When you have the time, please send me a 'prove -b -v t/nameformat.t' Thank you for the help Alberto

I tried it on another Debian machine (Debian 5.0.4, not AMD64!), and it fails the same tests there too: fw@otherdebian % uname -a Linux cu-rheia.culture.hu-berlin.de 2.6.26-2-686 #1 SMP Wed Feb 10 08:59:21 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux Show quoted text

I fetched the Text-BibTeX-0.45.tar.gz tarball, and it still fails: % prove -b -v t/nameformat.t # Failed test at t/nameformat.t line 33. # got: '{J.' # expected: 'J.' # Failed test at t/nameformat.t line 38. # got: '{J.' # expected: 'J.' # Failed test at t/nameformat.t line 45. # got: '{U.' # expected: 'U.' # Failed test at t/nameformat.t line 56. # got: 'S.~J.' # expected: 'S.~J.-M.' # Failed test at t/nameformat.t line 63. # got: 'S.~J.~M.' # expected: 'S.~J.-{\'E}.~M.' # Failed test at t/nameformat.t line 69. # got: 'S.~{J.' # expected: 'S.~J.' # Failed test at t/nameformat.t line 73. Great. Let me try to find a debian machine :-D Meanwhile, I know 0.45 won't change a thing. Corrections are on other small details. Feedback soon, I hope Cheers

Oh, damn. Trying on a debian: Linux debian 2.6.26-2-686 #1 SMP Tue Mar 9 17:35:51 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux and it works correctly (perl 5.10.0). Now, need to figure out how to make it fail :) Alberto

Testing Text::BibTeX (0.45) with latest Unicode::Collate (0.53) yields the same failures. Thanks, Frank

Hmm, looking at this again, it's probably not Unicode related. It is something in the btparse C library and not a problem with the perl module. The first thing to check is to make sure that you remove all OS libbtparse.so library versions you have before compiling and installing Text::BibTeX. If Debian bundles this lib, it could be an old version. The compiling output above didn't seem to include the btparse compile and tests, which is a bit suspicious.

I removed all libbt* and previously installed Text::BibTeX files from my system and tried it again. Now everything is fine. Show quoted text
