Subject: Can't get files from NOAA
Date: Fri, 21 May 2010 19:43:55 -0500
To: bug-Weather-NOAA-GFS [...] rt.cpan.org
From: George Holland <g4george [...] sbcglobal.net>
Starting a around the 10th of May I started getting "Unknown error in download procedure" errors on a Fedora 10 system. Fought that for a while then went back to a Fedora 9 system that I had used for a long time, then I installed the system on a Solaris Ver 10 x86 and am getting the same error. Has something changed at NOAA? Thanks for all your help. George Holland Houston Texas.

Hi George, I'm sorry but I'm not maintaining that script since long. I had no feedback in all this time by people using it (actually only once long time ago). I'm not working with NOAA data any more but they have probably discontinued that service for a more modern one. let me know if you feel like updating that script and become the maintainer. let me invite you to participate in the conference I'm actually organizing for OSGeo: http://2010.foss4g.org everithing about FOSS and Geospatial technologies. regards Lorenzo Becchi On Sat, May 22, 2010 at 2:44 AM, George Holland via RT < bug-Weather-NOAA-GFS@rt.cpan.org> wrote: Show quoted text

Thank you for getting back to me on this. I didn't think there WAS a problem with the script since it had worked for so long. I worked for Merrill Lynch's weather people for many years and usualy the problems we had turned out to be NOAA changing the data format with out good advance notice!! Will look into how they are doing it now. Thanks again. George. On Tue, 2010-05-25 at 06:43, Lorenzo Becchi via RT wrote: Show quoted text

I've just been told they use opendap now and possibly they've discontinued FTP service. I will not update the script but it shouldn't be that difficult to do it. ciao lorenzo On Tue, May 25, 2010 at 2:46 PM, George Holland via RT < bug-Weather-NOAA-GFS@rt.cpan.org> wrote: Show quoted text
