Subject: latest version.pm breaks "cpanp o"
i reported ticket #56774 where "cpanp o" breaks with the error message: [ERROR] Invalid version format (non-numeric data) at /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.10.1/Module/Load/Conditional.pm line 301. removing latest & greatest version.pm makes the error disappear. ==> is it normal that version.pm breaks on weird versions? (i don't know the version causing the problem)
There are a handful of distributions in CPAN that have bad $VERSION assignments (I scanned and found 8). Odds are your problem is Mail::SpamAssassin (the rest are much more obscure): https://issues.apache.org/SpamAssassin/show_bug.cgi?id=6422 There's already a new release of Module::Load::Conditional that protects against the breakage you've reported, so if you upgrade to 0.38, you should be able to proceed as usual. Thanks John
