Subject: | .git and other Author-Only Files |
Hi there,
I am one of the maintainers of the libsvg-tt-graph-perl package in
Debian. While upgrading our version to 0.16, I noticed that your package
is distributing a bunch of .git folders, as if the tarball was made from
your local working copy rather than a git export or using 'make dist'
(with appropriate settings in MANIFEST.SKIP, etc).
One particular point of concern for me is that there is a .author
directory in inc/, which I think may be related to how Module::Install
handles author-only stuff/determines whether it's in author mode. I have
not tried building yet, but to have .git files and our own .svn files
intermixed is confusing to say the least, and may confuse some of our
package tools.
This is not a practice we see often in CPAN or that was in 0.14, so I
presume this was a mistake from your end. Do you mind investigating this
and re-releasing a package without .git and .author files? Until then, I
am not comfortable upgrading the Debian package to 0.16.
Cheers,
Jonathan
