Subject: Not so deprecated
"This is a collection of .pl files that have historically been bundled with the Perl core but are now deprecated." First, they were never deprecated. Just their inclusion in core was deprecated. Now, even that's not the case. Maybe the text should read "This is a collection of .pl files that have historically been bundled with the Perl core. They may cease to be bundled with the Perl core in the future."

Well, kinda. Their use in new code has long been discouraged, but indeed their existence and use in existing code is not deprecated. Show quoted text

Technically, their inclusion in core is still deprecated, they're just not going to warn about it in 5.12. The plan is that they will warn about the deprecation in 5.14, and then be absent from 5.16. Anyway, you're quite right on the general point that the description is imprecise about their status, and that their status has changed since I wrote it. I'll revise that for the next release. -zefram
Fixed in Perl4-CoreLibs-0.001, just uploaded to CPAN.
