Subject: Strawberry Professional - feedback
Hi Curtis,

I am sending my feedback to Strawberry Professional (alpha)

1/ I propose to structure the menu somehow - for example

Strawberry Perl Professional\

    Tools\
        CPAN Client
        Graphical CPAN Client
        Graphical Documentation Browser
        Padre (Integrated Development Environment)

    Realted websites\
        Strawberry Perl Website
    Win32 Perl Live Support (web chat)
    Win32 Perl Wiki
        Beginning Perl (free book)
        Learning Perl (tutorials, links)
    Perl 5.10.1 On-line Documentation
    CPAN Search (perl modules)
        Project: BioPerl
        Project: Catalyst Web Framework
        Project: Moose Framework

    Strawbery Perl - README
    Perl Command Prompt
    Perl Shell (Perl::Shell)

It is just proposal to demonstrate my idea, it is not meant that I want it exactly like this.

2/ CPANPLUS::Shell::Wx does not work (you probably know it)

3/ Tk::Pod browser is well ... not nice (I mean GUI lokks slightly old-fashioned on Windows box), I would prefere to use some Wx based doc viewer (e.g. CPANPLUS::Shell::Wx::PODReader - I have not managet to get it work)

4/ Environment variables INCLUDE + LIB
Is it really necesasary to set?
INCLUDE=C:\strawberry\c\include;C:\strawberry\perl\lib\CORE
LIB=C:\strawberry\c\lib;C:\strawberry\perl\bin

5/ Some long standing issues you are already working on:
- installation relocability (not fixed to c:\strawberry)
- no need for admin privileges (write access to c:\whereever\strawberry should be enough)
- optional association with .pl extension

All from me for now. I have not assessed Strawberry-PRO module selection yet - I generally aree with your choice, minor comments might come later.

Anyway good work so far.

Actually, the Perl shell will be Devel::REPL. It just wasn't working for me for Alpha 1. You forgot the release notes (which I didn't have for Alpha 1) - but those will go on the top level. Show quoted text

It needs work, I know. Haven't had the time to attack it yet. A bug has been filed on it. Show quoted text

I would, too, I will admit. It just was the only one that would work for me. Show quoted text

I think those may be leftovers from older InnoSetup installers - I don't think those have been set since before I started making .msi's. Show quoted text

See the 5.12.0-RC0 betas for how well that's working! Show quoted text

I'm not insisting on it at the moment. Show quoted text

Glad to hear it.
