That's un-possible! The file in question predeclares the variable with: <%ARGS> $q => '' </%ARGS> Are you getting any other random errors that suggest your Mason installation might be wonky? Are you simple search terms otherwise preserved in the text box on a results page? -- Free map of local environmental resources: http://CambridgeMA.GreenMap.org -- MOTD on Setting Orange, the 6th of Bureaucracy, in the YOLD 3175: Spoon!

Yes, inside that file that predeclaration is still there. Show quoted text

page? Yes, the search term is still there in the top right corner. Show quoted text

might be wonky? I wouldn;t know a wonky Mason from a straight one. Something a little odd is that this only happens on my development server. I enabled warning logs on my live server and don;t see the error. So maybe I did something carelessly on the dev server that is breaking this and it is not a bug in your package. Another strange thing is that I get the warning in the log for every hit to ANY page: /rt/Ticket/ModifyLinks.html /rt/Search/Build.html?NewQuery=1 /rt/Admin/ /rt/Tools/index.html /rt/ A

>Another strange thing is that I get the warning in the log for every >hit to ANY page:
That's not odd. That Element is overloading the SimpleSearch box in the upper right with one that lists the query you just invoked (if present). The SimpleSearch box Element itself is called on every page, so you'd get an error on every page (if there were one). Well at least it works in production... -- Free map of local environmental resources: http://CambridgeMA.GreenMap.org -- MOTD on Prickle-Prickle, the 10th of Bureaucracy, in the YOLD 3175: Go away or I will replace you with a perl one-liner
