This version of Test::Deep has 509 passes and no fails on cpan testers, including plenty for 5.10 http://matrix.cpantesters.org/?dist=Test-Deep+0.104 But I also see that you have 5.10.1 . Is that an official release? So I think I know where the problem is and it will need to be fixed if there is a 5.10.1, F 2009/7/16 David Favor via RT <bug-Test-Deep@rt.cpan.org>: Show quoted text

OK, there's a version check i Test::Deep that checks <= 5.10 which should really be < 5.11. I'll fix it in the next release but since 5.10.1 is not in the wild, it's on my "when I get some time" list, F

Yes it something along the lines of qr/foo/ returns a SCALAR ref in 5.10 and below but a REGEXP ref in 5.11 onwards. My code checks $} <= 5.10. 5.10.1 keeps 5.10 behaviour but 5.10.1 is not <= 5.10 . I should be checking $] < 5.11, F

It was wrong to ever say that qr/foo/ of type SCALAR because it didn't behave anything like a regular scalar reference. 5.11 finally fixed this, F
Patch attached. Changes all checks against $] to "$] < 5.011". Patch was taken against modified 0.104 tree.

Note that 5.10.1 will appear "right soon now", the RC1 is in the works. It would be nice to get the problem fixes, so my 5.10.1 smoker can pick up also the 100+ distributions depending on Test-Deep. Regards, Slaven

Thanks. Be sure to use latest perl-maint (1731) as this fixes many weird problems which had crept into the core modules. I've tested 0.100 - 0.104 with 1731 and they all fail. I recommend you first simply test 1731 and if the failing tests are due to problems with perl itself, please hit reply-all so the porter list receives your update. Is 1731 a git-describe "distance from tag" number? Its not very useful in identifying the commit you are talking about. Consider: $ git remote -v origin ssh://perl5.git.perl.org/perl $ git fetch $ git describe origin/maint-5.10 GitLive-maint-5.10-1725-g5b53e9f $ git describe origin/blead GitLive-blead-1777-gd7eb112 So, what is 1731? Without the sha1 prefix its really quite difficult to say. cheers, Yves -- perl -Mre=debug -e "/just|another|perl|hacker/"

net2#git remote -v origin git://perl5.git.perl.org/perl.git net2#git describe GitLive-maint-5.10-1725-g5b53e9f Typo. Should have been 1713 instead of 1731. demerphq wrote: Show quoted text

I think you mean GitLive-maint-5.10-1713-gf9961a0 I think its very unlikely that any changes to maint between -1655 and -1713 made any of those problems go away. -- I before E. Except when it isn't.
