Hi Iain,
I've just uploaded Test::Distribution 1.08 to PAUSE. This version now
supports testing a modules SIGNATURE, of course, via Test::Signature.
While testing a the gziped up version of Test::Distribution, i noticed a
couple of warning messages that Test::Signature emits:
SKIPPED CHECKING 'Makefile'! (run Makefile.PL to ensure its integrity)
SKIPPED CHECKING 'Build'! (run Build.PL to ensure its integrity)
I'm wondering what the thinking was behind introducing these messages.
Yes users shouldn't think that just because the SIGNATURE is okay that
their Makefile and/or Build files are ok, but i'm concerend that novice
users might get a bit 'spooked' by these messages - especially since
before they ran './Build test' they would have run './Build' and 'perl
Build.PL' before that.
Given that neither of these files are actually covered by SIGNATURE...
does Test::Signature need to check for these?
Perhaps if you are sympathetic with my concerns, but have a good reason
to leave these checks in, you could make them optional?
As a slight aside, and something that i myself only discovered
yesterday, Module::Build will now generate a Makefile as well as a
Build ... so the '...run Makefile.PL...' mesage could be a bit
misleading...
Best Regards, and Seasons Greetings
Sagar
