You're the second person to report that. Is this using Apple's Perl? Can I see perl -V? Its a difference between parse_version() and VERSION(). Could you run... perl -Ilib -wle 'use ExtUtils::MakeMaker; do { next unless -e "$_/strict.pm"; print MM->parse_version("$_/strict.pm") } for @INC' and perl -wle 'use strict; print strict->VERSION' and let me know the output? -- 44. That perl shipped with a busted version.pm (0.70) which messes up VERSION so strict->VERSION in the tests is slightly wrong. Fixed the tests to avoid using ->VERSION in 3473faa
