Subject: copy bug (maybe)
I tried to copy two existing and two non-existing messages from the selected mailbox to another using the sequence set "3:4,9,11" on a mailbox with only 10 messages in it. The RFC seems to say, "If the COPY command is unsuccessful for any reason, server implementations MUST restore the destination mailbox to its state before the COPY attempt." Is trying to copy a message that doesn't exist count as "unsuccessful?" -- If riding in an airplane is flying, then riding in a boat is swimming. 109 jumps, 44.4 minutes of freefall, 85.0 freefall miles.

I assume you mean a mailbox with only, say, 5 messages in it, if you intend this COPY to me two existant and two non-existant messages. Show quoted text

Dovecot errors out with: BAD Error in IMAP command COPY: Invalid messageset Cyrus says: OK [COPYUID 1131338173 3:4 3:4] Completed I don't have access to a UW IMAP server offhand, which is the other common implementation (and, according to Mark Crispin, the, euh, "reference implementation," despite it apparently disagreeing with the RFC some some points). So it seems there's no consensus among existing implementations. - Alex -- Networking -- only one letter away from not working

That was my take too. I listed it unimportant in case it was not what you intended, but otherwise I somewhat expected you to just close it. -- If riding in an airplane is flying, then riding in a boat is swimming. 109 jumps, 44.4 minutes of freefall, 85.0 freefall miles.
