Subject: "ReadLine support is available" is meaningless for most people
The strawberry perl installer current puts a "CPAN Client" entry in the start menu which pops up a command line window directly into the CPAN client. In addition to the normal header message "This is CPAN blah blah blah" it also says "ReadLine support available". For someone encountering CPAN for the first time, this is a weird distraction. It communicates information about something they don't necessarily care about. I'd like to see this message removed. Instead, it would be nice to have a "Enter 'h' for help" instead.

Makes sense to me. Overall, I'd like to see CPAN.pm be a lot quieter by default. Andreas, what do you think? -- David
I agree. For the proper wording of this particular ReadLine hint there is even already a ticket in the queue with suggestions that were quite convincing. For the overall verbosity my intention was we'd solve this with multiple xxx_verbosity options.
Changed in my github master branch. Andreas, please pull.
