Yeah, I did this because some mail clients ignored style in the head. Not sure if that's still true. Maybe I'll move it to the head and see who complains…have you found that changing this fixes an issue of some kind? Or are you just reporting non-compliance with XHTML strict? Best, David

Hi David, Well, the way I noticed this was that Thunderbird's "new messages" notifications (small ones in the lower right side of the screen) show the <STYLE> content instead of the actual email content. Not very useful. Regular email display was fine though, I guess it's a different display engine that manages to get the styles even if they are in the wrong place. Sounds like a bug in Thunderbird's new messages parser. I've seen similar weirdness in superficial summarization of messages in lists. —Theory
