Subject: Bug#527536: RFP: libmediawiki-api-perl -- replacement for libmediawiki-perl
Date: Fri, 08 May 2009 08:20:19 +0800
To: submit [...] bugs.debian.org
From: jidanni [...] jidanni.org
X-debbugs-cc: libmediawiki-perl@packages.debian.org, bug-mediawiki-api@rt.cpan.org Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name : libmediawiki-api-perl * URL : http://search.cpan.org/dist/MediaWiki-API/ * License : GPL Programming Lang: Perl The proposed libmediawiki-api-perl is just like libmediawiki-perl, but uses the now available API directly, instead of reverse engineering browser interaction. (Some people might still want libmediawiki-perl, so don't delete it.)
Does this require any action on my behalf ? note that a perl module can be built using dh-make-perl after unpacking the cpan distribution (and it now finds the correct license etc)

If you have any Debian Developer friends, perhaps you can ask them to package it... well beyond my abilities. Show quoted text

No problem, I'll just send a message to $ grep-aptavail -Pe mediawiki\|wikipedia -s maintainer -n|perl -nwle '$h{$_}++ for /<(.*)>/;END{print join ", ", keys %h}' and one of those cheery Debian Developers will be quick to package it... hopefully :-)

Unfortunately this work cannot be done by the mediawiki packaging team.. The team is currently composed on a single active developper, me, and I feel I have enough work with the current packages. However, I would be very happy to add any interested contributor to the team. Romain

You guys are about --><-- this close (very close) to getting this into Debian. E.g., Jools already makes debs... http://malus.exotica.org.uk/~buzz/cpan/libmediawiki-api-perl_0.26-1_all.deb They just need to be put properly into Debian.

I currently maintain another Mediawiki Perl and library and application so I would probably be a good candidate. I could do it too in a couple weeks. Of course, if there is a person who is actively using it already, they would be a better candidate. Anyone? The 0.27 version i am about to upload has instructions on how to build a debian package. however, I'm not sure I have the time to actively maintain an official debian version.

Thank you everyone. Closing bug. I have also just released a version 0.27 into the upload queue. Sorry for the poor timing.
